In what could be described as the match of the day, Dreamland Academy defeated Young
Abians by a lone goal in the second match of the opening day. In the early exchange, both teams
displayed a high level of tactical discipline, though Dreamland Academy seemed just to be notch
higher than the purple-clad Young Abians.
This proved to be the difference in the ninth minute of the first half when Obughikem Victory latched on to a neat cutback from the left flank by Cherubim Maduka. Not many spectators could say they hadn’t seen this coming as Obughikem and Cherubim had put pressure on the Young Abian’s defense line with a solid press combined with sleek passing. Credit to the Young Abians, they fought hard for an equalizer, but the Dreamland Academy stood strong to deny them any scoring opportunities. They can, however, take heart from the standing ovation both teams received at the end of the encounter, a
reference to the high-quality match they had just watched.
