The Fifty1 Alliance Basketball Cup is designed as the pinnacle of basketball competition in Abia State. While the league, due to its duration, is mostly limited to basketball clubs within Abia State because of its long duration of 3 months to accommodate matches on a home and away basis, the Basketball Cup is different. The Cup deliberately attracts basketball players from outside the state and is typically held over a short period, with players staying in a semi-camping format. The teams are split into 2 groups and play on a round robin basis in each group, with the top 2 in each group progressing to the finals
