Saturday, 5 April 202,5 was a historic day for professional sports broadcasting in Abia State, if not Nigeria. That is the day that Fifty1 Alliance, operator of the Abia State Football Supalig Public Private Partnership, signed a radio broadcast deal with Magic FM 102,9 the leading private radio station in Abia State, for live radio broadcast of the 2025 Supalig matches.
Speaking at the occasion, Ike Agu, the General Manager of Magic FM, described the broadcast deal as a first of its kind declaring that Magic FM was not only well placed to deliver live radio coverage of the matches to its audience but also had the one of the best sports departments to deliver quality commentaries to football fans wherever they may be listening from. In his remarks, Dike Dimiri, Managing Director of Fifty1 Alliance, described the choice of Magic FM as the preferred radio broadcast partner as an easy one given its track record in delivering a quality radio experience and its wide reach. He added that since 202,3 Magic FM had covered several Fifty1 Alliance events, including table tennis and basketball, and building on that previous relationship would certainly make it easier to deliver radio broadcasts for the Supalig.
After the signing ceremony, Magic FM was presented with an Official Radio Partner Certificate by Fifty1 Alliance, owners of the broadcast rights. The certificate was received by Mr. Agu. Also in attendance was Jude Ochang, Head of Sports Programming at Magic FM. The ceremony took place in the conference room of the Magic FM offices.
